The Health Department of the state has issued a public advisory, asking citizens to make sure to follow all the preventive measures against a likely surge in seasonal illnesses that is expected to be promoted by the onset of monsoon.

The advisory was issued by B. Ravinder Nayak, director of Public Health and Family Welfare, on Sunday, and it underlines the increased risk of vector-borne, water-borne and airborne diseases during the time of monsoon. The increased humidity and lower temperatures, which are the weather highlights of this season can prompt the development of conditions that are conducive to illnesses such as dengue, malaria and viral fever.

Adults With Childhood Cancer History At Risk Of Severe COVID-19 Related Diseases

With the pathbreaking developments in medical science and technology, the scope of curing cancer has increased, with more children surviving the deadly disease

But even after a long time after the treatment, the side effects may come back. In one of the recent studies, researchers have looked into how adult childhood cancer survivors in Sweden and Denmark were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the study made by the Karolinska Institute. It required the participation of over 13,000 people who had previously been diagnosed with cancer before they hit their 20s or who were at least 20 years old when the pandemic had initially hit. They were studied in contrast with both siblings and randomly selected individuals from the group of people of the same gender and year of birth. The results were amusing as it was revealed that the children who survived had a lower risk of contracting COVID-19, but what shocked later was that 58 per cent of them were more likely to develop inside l disease if they did become infected.
