Heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Montha has put Andhra, Odisha, and Bengal on red alert. Know about the health risks and common diseases to stay safe during the storm.
Cyclone Montha is on its way to India’s eastern coast, where it will make landfall in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and parts of West Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange advisories for 23 of the state’s 26 districts, warning of heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding. According to the meteorology agency, the deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal strengthened into a “cyclonic storm” on October 26. It will intensify into a “severe cyclonic storm” by October 28.
IMD warned of heavy rain and wind, and schools have already been ordered to be shut down, and safety arrangements have been taken. Although the physical effects of the storm are yet to be seen, the other thing that comes to mind as the aftermath of such weather incidents is the increase in some diseases and infections.

Waterborne Diseases
