Baek Se-hee Passes Away at 35: The beloved author of ‘I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki’ donates her organs, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and hope.

Baek Se-hee, a South Korean author whose memoir, I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki, is discussed in other postings, has passed away at the age of 35. Her family confirmed her death, which is therefore a severe tragedy for the readers who were supported and empowered by her words. The South Korean media reported that when Baek died, her organs, such as her heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, etc., were donated to save several lives. This act of mercy resembles the compassion that characterised her personality and her writings.
In 2018, Baek Se-hee became globally known with her first memoir that traced the sessions of her therapy and her fight with dysthymia, as one of the long-term forms of depression. This book was a cross-cultural mirror of itself, as it exposed its truth and the nakedness of her feelings and the emotions that many find hard to describe.
The contradiction between human feeling as wanting to die yet wanting to eat teokbokki was presented in the title; it was the desire to cease suffering, and at the same time wanting to experience the small comforts of life. The memoir also reached the status of a cultural icon, and it has contributed to the normalisation of mental health discourse in South Korea because such issues were not discussed.
Praised in more than 25 languages and selling more than a hundred thousand copies all over the globe, the book by Baek resonated with the audience who could relate to her story of acceptance and recovery.
Fans and other writers are posting their tributes all over since not only did Baek Se-hee have a literary voice, but she also displayed the last act of kindness to others in giving them the gift of life, even in her death. Her poetry and her pity will be perpetuated in hearts around the globe.
