The World Health Organization (WHO) claims that most people suffering from dengue do not usually show any symptoms and they may get better in 1 or 2 weeks after getting exposed to the virus. But in some cases people may show symptoms like high fever (40 C/104 F), severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands and rash.

The global health organization states that people who are infected for the second time with dengue fever are at a greater risk of developing severe symptoms that include severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, rapid breathing, bleeding gums or nose, fatigue, restlessness, blood in vomit or stool, being very thirsty, pale and cold skin and feeling weak.

Dengue Safety Tips

The best way to lower your risk of contracting dengue fever is by protecting yourself from mosquito bites. Ensure to use mosquito repellent especially during the monsoon season, and cover your body as much as you can. Always use a mosquito net while sleeping. Do not forget to put a window screen if you live in a contaminated area to block mosquitoes and flies enter your indoor space.
