Variety is excited to announce that singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter will be honored with the Hitmaker of the Year award at our ninth annual Hitmakers celebration.
The event and coinciding Hitmakers issue look back at the year in music and recognize the writers, producers, publishers, managers and executives who helped make — and break — the 25 most-consumed songs of the year, as measured by Billboard and Luminate charts. Hitmakers culminates with an invitation-only brunch held in Los Angeles on Saturday, Dec. 6. TikTok and Riot Games will be Premier Partners of the event. More honorees and details will be announced in the coming weeks.
The announcement arrives amid a flurry of activity for the singer. Her seventh studio album, “Man’s Best Friend,” was released in August and continues the chart streak that began with her 2024 album, “Short & Sweet,” for which she won two Grammy Awards. Led by the chart-topping single “Manchild,” “Man’s Best Friend” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and amassed over 180 million streams in the U.S. within the first week.
Carpenter will headline the Coachella festival next April, and made her Grand Ole Opry debut on Oct. 7 in Nashville; the North American tour behind “Man’s Best Friend” begins Oct. 23 in Pittsburgh after a pair of appearances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas and includes five nights each at New York’s Madison Square Garden and the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Previous Variety Hitmakers of the Year include Charli xcx, SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, and Elton John and Dua Lipa.
