Russian Doctors: Amidst the panic and anxiety that have been caused among people by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake which jolted Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula on Wednesday, a moment of incredible courage and dedication has won hearts online.
A video, which is now going viral on the internet, shows a CCTV camera video where a team of doctors inside an operating room at Russia’s Kamchatka Cancer Center is performing surgery while some are holding onto their patient.

Oleg Melnikov, Minister of Health of the Kamchatka Krai, was also reported as saying that despite the danger, doctors remained calm and stayed with the patient. Melnikov reportedly states, “I admire and thank our specialists for their professionalism and resilience in a stressful situation.”
8.8 Earthquake In Russia
In the early hours on Wednesday, just after midnight, a massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake hit Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, leaving many locals panicked and some injured. According to reports, it is the sixth biggest earthquake recorded on Earth and the strongest quake since the 1952 Tokachi earthquake in the region.
Following the massive jolt, many countries across the globe have issued a tsunami warning, asking people to evacuate as soon as possible to avoid more casualties.
Japan, Hawaii, Taiwan, Alaska, California, Mexico, and New Zealand are some places to name a few, whose officials are on high alert.
The meteorological agency in Japan warned, “Get away from the coast immediately. Do not go back until it is declared safe.” While the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management on X also informs its people, “Take Action! Destructive tsunami waves expected.”
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake hit 136km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in Russia, at a depth of 20 km.
