After a year in which his father and wife both battled cancer, Prince William, 43, the eldest son of the monarch and husband of the Princess of Wales, has shared a rare health update on both of them.

For the British Royals, the past year was a difficult one as the monarch of the United Kingdom, King Charles III, 76, and Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, 43, were both diagnosed with cancer.
After a year in which his father and wife both battled cancer, Prince William, 43, the eldest son of the monarch and husband of the Princess of Wales, has shared a rare health update on both of them.
Prince William Says 2024 Was His “Hardest Year”
During an interaction with actor Eugene Levy, 78, for a travel TV series, the Prince of Wales was asked by the host, “This last year, your wife and father have been ill. How are things now first of all?” as Levy received a tour of Windsor Castle.
Prince William replied, “Yes, things are good. Everything is progressing in the right way, which is all good news.” The royal heir added, “But, it’s been, I’d say 2024 was the hardest year that I’ve ever had.”
“Trying to sort of balance protecting the children, Catherine, my father needs a bit of protection, but he’s, you know, he’s old enough to do that himself as well. But it’s important my family feel protected and have the space to process a lot of the stuff that’s gone on last year, and that was tricky trying to do that and keep doing the job.”
“But you know, we all have challenges that come our way, and it’s important to keep going,” the prince continues.
King Charles Health Update On
King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, following a surgery for an enlarged benign prostate. Although Buckingham Palace did not initially confirm the type of cancer his diagnosis was publicly announced following the treatment.
While the palace continues to affirm that the king has been doing well, concerns are mounting over King Charles’ health as pictures and video clips of the UK monarch go viral on the internet, with certain differences in appearance each time he attends public events.
From bloodshot eyes, to weight loss and using a wooden stick for support while taking a stroll in his 20,000-acre Sandringham, Norfolk estate, many people are raising eyebrows about whether or not he is healthy enough to rule the British with his current health scare.
Kate Middleton Health Update
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy in March 2024, following a major abdominal surgery. The Princess of Wales was out of public view for several months after her diagnosis as she was undergoing treatment that concluded in September 2024 and she announced she is in remission in January 2025.
Eugene Levy, who was hosting a travel TV series tour at Windsor Castle, asked the Prince of Wales about Kate Middleton being in remission. He replied, “Yes, she is. Yes.”
Prince William, who recalls 2024 as the hardest year of his life says that the remission is good news especially from a family point of view.
In a 2024 interview, while talking about how the King and the Princess of Wales have coped, he said, “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
