Kidney Failure And Dialysis: Understanding This Medical Emergency
In the human body, the kidneys play the most important role in flushing out toxins and waste from the body via urine. Daily, the body produces a certain amount of this waste while converting the food we consume into energy. However, when the kidneys stop working, the entire waste gets accumulated inside the system – this, when left unchecked for a long time, can lead to other serious health issues – and also permanent renal failure.
What Happens When the Kidneys Stop Working?
Here is what happens when the renal health stops functioning the way it actually should:
- Changes in urination Cycle or Frequent urination (the patient may feel the need to visit the washroom more often)
- Unusual swelling (especially in the hands, feet and ankles)
- Persistent fatigue or extreme tiredness
- Loss of appetite
