Ed Sheeran debuted a new song and music video ahead of the opening of F1: The Movie.
On Thursday, the singer released “Drive,” set to be featured on The F1: The Album. The film, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, and companion album releases on June 27.
“Drive,” produced by John Mayer and Blake Slatkin, features Mayer on guitar alongside Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on drums, bassist Pino Paladino and keyboardist Rami Jaffee, with additional keyboards and drum programming by Slatkin.
F1: The Album was produced and overseen by Atlantic Records west coast president Kevin Weaver, who also produced Barbie The Album, Twisters: The Album, The Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad, Daisy Jones & The Six and Birds Of Prey soundtracks, along with Atlantic Records’ evp and co-head of Pop/Rock A&R, Brandon Davis, and Atlantic Records’ svp A&R/marketing, Joseph Khoury.
Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer, and music supervisors David Taylor and Jake Voulgarides, exec produced the album.
Sheeran joins the star-studded lineup also featured on the soundtrack including Doja Cat, Rosé, Chris Stapleton, Roddy Rich, Myke Towers, Tate McRae, Burna Boy and RAYE.
F1: The Movie stars Pitt as former F1 driver Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to mentor and team up with a younger driver, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Javier Bardem also star.
Kosinski directs from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, with story by Kosinski and Kruger. Daniel Lupi exec produces. Lewis Hamilton, who has won seven world championships and is largely considered the face of F1, served as a producer on the film.
Atlantic Records’ F1: The Album is available for pre-order and arrives in stores and on online retailers Friday, June 27 in conjunction with the theatrical release of the Warner Bros. Pictures film.
