From diagnosis to healing, Dipika Kakar reveals her health battle and how robotic surgery helped her recover faster.

Popular television actress Dipika Kakar has gone public for the first time about her recent difficult health battle. Dipika was diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer, underwent robotic surgery, and spent 11 days in the hospital. She is now back home, healing gradually, and shared her health journey in an emotional vlog posted on her husband Shoaib Ibrahim’s YouTube channel.
Dipika Kakar Reveals About Her Robotic Surgery. What Is It?
In the video, we saw that Dipika Kakar was stepping out first time after her surgery, not for regular check-ups but for a family outing with her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, and son, Ruhaan. Previously, their outings were restricted due to Dipika Kakar’s medical conditions.
Shoaib mentioned, after consulting the doctor, “We thought it would be good for her to get some fresh air and a change of surroundings. Every step of going out and eating is done with the doctor’s guidance. Shoaib also teased Dipika and lightened the mood by saying, ” I can’t think how somebody as vocal and outgoing can be kept cooped up at home for a long time.”
Robotic Surgery Made Her Recovery Quicker
Dipika credited robotic surgery for her quick recovery. She stated it was a quick recovery for her due to the robotic surgery, as an open surgery takes a much longer time. When we asked the doctor, he said, “Robotic surgery can be the best way, since the tumor had no spread.
Robotic Surgery vs. Open Surgery
Shoiab explained that instead of a large L-shaped cut when open surgery is performed, Dipika underwent a robotic surgery with only six small cuts through which incisions were made. Dipika further added that robotic surgery isn’t for every patient. “It depends on the case,” she said. “If a patient were going to do a transplant, usually robotic surgery isn’t preferred.” She also discussed about the risks that can appear during a robotic surgery, and how her doctors prepared her for any medical risk. She said, ” Dr Somanath was confident to proceed with a robotic surgery, and also asked for my consent to switch to an open surgery in case something went wrong, like excessive bleeding. Thankfully, I’m recovering, and it all went smoothly.
Dipika is recovering and feeling strong, grateful, and slowly returning to her normal life, with little robotic stitches that are healing on her belly. Dipika’s journey illustrates the remarkable advancement of medical technology, and her personal experience about her health struggle is enough to uplift and encourage others.
