The current surge is turned up by the latest sub-variants, namely the JN.1, N.B.1.8.1, LF7 and XFG. The variants are the evolved side of the omicron variant. Despite the maximum mutation, their effect is mild to moderate with the maximum who require hospitalization being the ones with comorbidities.
COVID-19 Cases In India Today Live Updates: The active COVID-19 tally in India on Wednesday morning nearly crossed the 7,000 mark, with states like Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka reporting the maximum spread of infection. The coronavirus cases have been steadily on the rise over the past few weeks, with the total tally reaching almost 7000 on June 11.
India logged a total of 6,815, new covid cases according to data from the Union Ministry of Health’s Covid dashboard. The surge has remained constant since the middle of May.
Meanwhile, the state of Kerala remains the worst hit as it reported its 16th COVID-19 death this year of a 79-year-old man with co-morbidities who lost his life to the infection. The man was reported to have had Type 2 diabetes among several other diseases, as per the health ministry’s data.
Besides this, the state has marked the highest number of active cases standing at a total of 2,223. Out of which 96 new cases have been reported over the past 24 hours.
