Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham had the Internet ablaze last week when the pair posted a pair of corresponding social media posts containing lyrics from their 1973 song “Frozen Love,” leading fans to wonder if the two had some form of reconciliation seven years after Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac back in 2018. Less than a week later, we’ve got answers, as the duo has confirmed that their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks is finally getting reissued for the digital age.
Rhino High Fidelity announced the Buckingham Nicks reissue Wednesday morning. The 1973 album, released before Buckingham and Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, is the pair’s only studio album as a duo and has largely unavailable for decades.
“Crying in the Night,” the Nicks-penned track that opened the album, is available digitally today (July 23) ahead of the reissue.
The reissue, slated for Sept. 19, has been sourced from original analog master tapes for its vinyl return, according to the prelease, along with hi-res digital files for its CD and digital release. The reissue marks the first time the album will be available digitally.

Buckingham and Nicks built up the hype in earnest last week. First, Nicks shared a post that seemed to be in her own handwriting that said “And if you go forward,” with Buckingham posting one 30 minutes later that said “I’ll meet you there.” Speculation grew stronger after a billboard depicting the two of them from the 1973 album had appeared on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles this week. Since then, the YouTube comments of that infamous Fleetwood Mac performance of “Silver Springs” in 1997 had become flooded with newly added comments like “welcome back everyone” and “It’s good to be back.”
Buckingham Nicks was recorded at famed Sound City Studios, where their future group member Mick Fleetwood would eventually hear a recording of “Frozen Love” that led to him inviting Buckingham, and then Nicks, to join the group. While the album helped launch the Fleetwood Mac lineup that would turn the band into an international success, Buckingham Nicks was considered a commercial letdown at the time, and it subsequently took on a more hallowed status among Fleetwood Mac fans.
The reissued vinyl, cut by Kevin Gray, is available exclusively at Rhino.com and internationally at select Warner Music Group stores. There will only be 5,000 individually numbered copies sold, along with a special version, limited to 2,000 copies, including two replica seven-inch singles of the original mixes of “Crying in the Night” and “Stephanie” on one, and “Don’t Let Me Down Again” and “Races Are Run” on the other.
