According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), infections are going up across the country, and more people are visiting emergency rooms with COVID-19 symptoms. While the total number of cases is still low compared to past surges, it’s clear that the virus is spreading again. The CDC says COVID-19 cases are growing in 40 states, especially in areas like the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, South, and West Coast. Nine states have stayed steady, but none are seeing fewer cases.

Another dominant variant of coronavirus, called Nimbus, is also spreading rapidly across the United States. As per studies, ‘Nimbus,’ scientifically known as NB.1.8.1, is an Omicron sub-variant.
Some of the common symptoms of this virus include mild to moderate upper-respiratory symptoms. However, there is another sign that also shows up in the body when one is infected by the Nimbus variant. Recently, the variant gained attention due to its distinctive and extremely painful sore throat symptoms. Most infected individuals have described the severity of the throat pain as “razor blade throat”.
According CDC, Nimbus accounted for approximately 37% of US cases within two weeks as of June 7. The NB.1.8.1 sub-variant does not cause serious illness. However, it appears to be highly transmissible.

Apart from these two dominant variants, one should also stay informed about the strains and their symptoms as well – congestion, fatigue, mild cough, fever, loss of taste and smell, runny nose, loss of appetite and muscle aches. Less common symptoms include diarrhoea and nausea.
