Ad Veteran Prasoon Pandey Makes Feature Film Debut With Mythological


Prolific Indian advertising filmmaker Prasoon Pandey is set to make his feature film directorial debut with a contemporary mythological thriller backed by MovieVerse Studios and Ellipsis Entertainment.

The project marks a significant career pivot for Pandey, who has established himself as one of India’s most celebrated commercial directors. He holds the distinction of being the first Asian filmmaker featured in Campaign Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential advertising filmmakers worldwide, with his work earning recognition at Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, and D&AD.

Vaibhav Vishal (Sony’s “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story,” Netflix’s “Rana Naidu”) penned the script, which combines modern storytelling with culturally rooted narrative elements in what the filmmakers describe as a “mass contemporary mythological thriller” genre.

MovieVerse Studios operates as the film production arm of IN10 Media Network, focusing on mainstream content for theatrical and streaming platforms. The company joins forces with Ellipsis Entertainment, known for acclaimed titles including “Neerja,” “Tumhari Sulu,” “Looop Lapeta,” “Sharmajee Ki Beti,” and “Do Aur Do Pyaar.”

The company has previously worked with advertising directors including Ram Madhvani and Suresh Triveni in their transition to feature filmmaking.

For Pandey, the decision to move into features required finding the right project. “I really enjoy the kind of stories I get to do in advertising, which is why I haven’t done a feature film yet,” he said. “So if I have to take a short break from ads after we are done casting, I was clear that it would have to be a story that’s truly intriguing and unlike anything I’ve seen before. So when Atul shared this with me, I knew this was the one.”

The filmmaker described the narrative as having “the potential to push cinematic boundaries,” adding that he “couldn’t have asked for better collaborators than MovieVerse Studios and Ellipsis Entertainment to embark on this journey.”

Casting for the lead roles is currently underway, with announcements expected imminently.
