The Queen Mother, SiriKit of Thailand, who is a sacred and respected member of the Thai monarchy, died a natural death at the age of 93 on October 24, 2025. She took her last breath in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok due to a bloodstream infection. Her death ended one phase in the history of Thailand as she was the representation of grace, culture, and national unity.

Queen Mother, SiriKit’s cause of death at the age of 93 was because to an infection in her bloodstream. The reports indicate that she has been in hospital since 2019 due to most of the age-related issues, and her condition is weakening slowly. On October 17, 2025, she came down with a very serious case of bloodstream infection, in which bacteria are introduced into the blood, which leads to a systemic inflammatory reaction. Though she was provided with all medical attention and care, due to her old age, her body could not heal properly because of the infection. In elderly patients, sepsis may develop rapidly, thus resulting in organ failure accompanied by low blood pressure and even death.
Prime Minister Suspended ASEAN Visit
The death of Queen Mother was announced, which made the Prime Minister Anutin Charvirakul cancel his scheduled visit to the ASEAN summit, which was to be held in Malaysia. He will remain in Thailand, it is stated in the recent information, to preside over the special Cabinet meeting, and is attending to the national funeral preparations. The government has announced the mourning period of a year of mourning for the royal family and the nation.
