Gabriel Sherman, Author and ‘Apprentice’ Writer, Signs With Cinetic

Cinetic, the talent management and media advisory company known for its work with indie auteurs, has signed screenwriter and bestselling author Gabriel Sherman.

Sherman, whose work often explores the intersection of politics and media, wrote the original screenplay for last year’s “The Apprentice”, which resulted in Oscar nominations for Sebastian Stan’s performance as a young Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong’s work as his amoral mentor, Roy Cohn. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” which pulled back the curtain on the inner workings of Fox News. Sherman contributed to the adaptation of that book into a limited series for Showtime, which won a Golden Globe for Russell Crowe’s performance as Fox News founder Roger Ailes. Seth MacFarlane and Sienna Miller co-starred in the series.

Sherman was a writer on the Tom McCarthy-created ABC drama “Alaska Daily” starring Hilary Swank. He currently has film and television projects in development with Amazon, North Road and Oscar-nominated director Joseph Cedar (“Footnote,” “Norman”).

Sherman is a special correspondent for Vanity Fair. Next year, Simon & Schuster is set to publish his second book, a biography of Rupert Murdoch’s family.

In addition to Cinetic, Sherman will continue to be represented by WME and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.

Sherman is the latest addition to a growing talent roster at Cinetic, which already includes an award-winning group of writer and director multihyphenates, producers and other emerging talent. The company represents the likes of Richard Linklater, David Gordon Green, Todd Haynes, Betsy West and Julie Cohen, Matthew Heineman, Carla Gutierrez, David Osit and Kevin Macdonald.
