Russian Cardiologist Reveals The Most Dangerous Room In Your Home, He Warns ‘Thousands Faint Or Even Die' There

With an estimated 19.8 million deaths that occur in a year due to Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) out of which 85% were due to heart attack and stroke. What caught people off guard is that cardiac arrest can strike without warning anywhere, anytime. A heart attack can occur when your heart muscle cannot get enough oxygen, usually due to a blocked blood vessel.

However, a cardiologist who seems to be a keen observer or maybe comes with experience treating heart patients, took to Instagram to reveal the most dangerous room in your house, where thousands of people faint or even die due to a heart attack or stroke.

Most Dangerous Room In Your House

In an Instagram post shared on September 8, Dr. Dmitry Yaranov, a cardiologist, highlighted how a humble bathroom can be a hazardous space for people living with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

The Russian doctor, who specialises in heart failure, went on to reveal in the caption that the most dangerous room in your house is your toilet. Sharing his thoughts on ‘the silent danger hiding in your bathroom’, he continued to explain the reason in the caption and wrote, ” You think it’s the kitchen with the knives or garage with the tools, but for some people it’s the bathroom.” Dr. Yaranov added, “Have you ever felt lightheaded or dizzy in the morning? You are not alone.”

According to Dr. Yaranov, every year, thousands of people faint or even die while on the toilet. He explains the reason that straining during constipation triggers the Valsalva manoeuvre which involves holding your breath and pushing.

Why People Faint And Die In Toilet?

The Russian doctor warns that this action can increase the pressure in your chest, reduce blood flow back to your heart and drop your blood pressure and cut oxygen to your brain. He continued in the post stating that people with heart disease, arrhythmias, or those taking high doses of heart failure meds that already lower blood pressure levels are at higher risk.

In his words, “You think it’s the kitchen with the knives or the garage with the tools. But for some people it’s the bathroom. Every year, thousands of people faint or even die while on the toilet. Here’s why: Straining during constipation triggers the Valsalva maneuver you hold your breath and push. That spikes the pressure in your chest, slows blood flow back to your heart, drops your blood pressure, and cuts oxygen to your brain. If you have heart disease, arrhythmias, or you’re on high doses of heart failure meds that already lower your BP, you’re at much higher risk.”

Preventive Measures For Constipation

Dr. Yaranov concluded his viral Instagram post by making suggestions to prevent constipation by eating more fibre, staying hydrated and regularly exercising to stay active. He wrote, “Fix the cause: fiber, hydration, daily movement, stool softeners if needed. Don’t ignore chronic constipation it’s not just uncomfortable, it can be dangerous.”
