‘Solar Opposites’ Cast and Executive Producers on Final Season

As the sixth and final season of “Solar Opposites” is set to premiere, the cast and crew are prepared to say goodbye to the Opposite family for now.

“The aliens are leaving, but we got so many more stories to tell to get people prepared for that,” said co-creator and executive producer Mike McMahan at the Comic-Con Variety Studio presented by Google TV.

As the series premiered in 2020, “Solar Opposites” has grown to explore various sectors of space with new species for the family to cause chaos with. As different characters interact with the Opposite family, the theme of acceptance and learning from new intergalactic species play a big part into the family members as they continue their space travels.

“They’re queer, gender neutral, immigrant aliens, they love everything we love. Just because they’re different doesn’t mean they’re not different from any other family,” says executive producer Sydney Ryan.

With new faces popping up in Season 6, the showrunners also teased the return of some familiar faces. Tiffany Haddish, Kieran Culkin, Christina Hendricks, Ken Marino, Alfred Molina, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Beck Bennett will guest star.

“This character called The Dude was a big deal the first couple seasons and is played by Alfred Molina. He came back at the end of the previous season. He’s got a real storyline this year,” revealed McMahan. “We’ve [also] got Commander Czar coming back from the end of the previous season. He’s an alien with three eyes that doesn’t like our guys.”

With the series coming to an end, the “Solar Opposites” universe has grown in size with fans around the world from different demographics and generations. “I do a lot of comedy shows all over the country and I’ve been to some of the strangest places that you would never think I would be performing at,” said Tiffany Haddish. “A lot of adults, over the age of 70, come to my shows and they always talk about ‘Solar Opposites’ and they always bring it up like ‘I love that show!’”

Google TV is the presenting sponsor of the Comic-Con Variety Studio.
