PCOS dietician Tallene Hacatoryan, in her recent Instagram post, writes, “PCOS isn’t just ‘missed periods. ‘ It’s a whole metabolic condition that can lead to insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and high testosterone. That means symptoms like weight gain, acne, facial hair, and cravings that can feel impossible to control.”

PCOS is the cause of anovulation, which is the reason for infertility in women. However, certain things that can help reverse PCOS in women, including diet, according to Hacatoryan.

According to Hacatoryan, who also suffers from the PCOS condition, one gentle first step you can take to reverse the symptoms of PCOS is going gluten and dairy free.

She further added, “Try going gluten/dairy free for just 30 days. After these 30 days, try slowly introducing these foods back into see how you truly feel. No perfection required!”

“It’s important to note that avoiding never means not 100%. It’s ok to have these food items from time to time, but be aware of how your body feels, and how much you can tolerate.”

The reason why Hacatoryan avoids these food items is that they cause chronic inflammation and can make you feel hungry all the time.

“Gluten has been shown to reduce your body fat thermostat by 50%, which means it reduces the sensitivity of leptin, making you hungry all the time,” She explains.

Foods To Swap With Gluten Free

According to the dietician, the best food to swap out with foods like pasta and bread are gluten-free options like quinoa, rice and sweet potato.

And the reason why she avoids dairy products is because it causes high testosterone, making it harder to manage cystic acne, hair loss and facial hair. So any foods like whey protein, milk and cheese, she swaps out with healthy options like avocado or hummus.
