Henna cream benefits for hair: One is able to enjoy many hair care benefits when they choose natural ingredients for hair colour, as opposed to harsh chemical-based hair dyes. Nowadays, many consumers have switched to henna cream, because they want to stay away from chemical-based hair dyes that contain ammonia or its byproducts — ethanolamine and triethanolamine — traces of heavy metals, PPD, and resorcinol that can be quite harmful for the body. Clelia Cecilia Angelon, founder and CEO of Surya Brasil explains that plant-based henna, on the other hand, is a natural, organic and vegan way to colour the hair. It is no secret that Ayurvedic herbs like amla and reetha — found abundantly in India — are beneficial for hair growth and texture. The Amazonian river basin, too, is a treasure house of many more such plants and herbs that can be mixed with henna cream to get better results.

Baba u oil, for instance, can provide deep moisturisation, increased hair strength and shine, and scalp health. It is appropriate for all hair types — especially low porosity hair — because it is lightweight and has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft to seal in moisture, Clelia explains. She adds that the oil has fatty acids and antioxidants that shield the hair from harm and support a healthy scalp.

The Copa ba tree found in the Amazon is used to extract oil that benefits the hair and scalp immensely, the expert further suggests, adding that it functions as a natural moisturiser, eases and lessens scalp irritation, and can create a favourable environment for hair growth. “It has antifungal and antibacterial qualities that reduce dandruff and other scalp problems.”

The hair expert goes on to say that malva, which is sometimes referred to as mallow, can calm the scalp and moisturise it, assisting with hair loss. “Malva extract can hydrate, soothe, and nourish the scalp, all of which can improve the general health of the hair.”

Chamomile helps in dandruff reduction, scalp calming, and natural lightening. It can also improve the general hair health and manage frizz. “While chamomile’s natural lightening qualities can brighten blonde or light brown hair and accentuate natural highlights, its anti-inflammatory qualities can help relieve an itchy, irritated scalp,” Clelia says.

Then, there is jaborandi that is traditionally used in hair care products. It is known to decrease hair loss, control greying, nourish the scalp, and encourage hair growth. It can also strengthen hair roots and decrease dandruff.

According to the expert, jua is another herb that can cleanse and strengthen the hair, while improving its overall texture, decreasing dandruff, and encouraging new hair growth.

“When used in hair products, cumaru or tonka bean has various benefits because of its high vitamin and mineral content. In order to create hair products that support hair strength, lustre, and general health, it is frequently mixed with other natural components like henna and several Brazilian plants,” the expert suggests.

A a , too, is intensely beneficial because of its high antioxidant, fatty acid, and vitamin content. A a berries and their oil have a number of advantages for hair: they support a healthy scalp, accelerate hair growth, help strengthen, hydrate, and protect hair.

Guaran has antioxidant qualities. It strengthens hair roots, promotes the growth of new hair, reduces hair fall and curbs dandruff. It boosts blood flow to the scalp and feeds hair follicles.

Olive oil has moisturising and antioxidant qualities that add gloss to the hair and reduce breakage. Olive oil can also repair damage caused by heat or chemicals and may even encourage the growth of new hair.

Oil from coconut powder, meanwhile, controls frizz by providing intense moisturisation. Its antifungal qualities ensure it adds gloss, prevents breakage, and fights dandruff.

“While it is not possible to individually collect these herbs and add them, people use pre-mixed henna cream nowadays that has the benefits of these herbs and plants. It is ready-to-use and easy-to-apply, and can be hassle free,” the expert concludes.
